What to Expect

Bordered on the right by the Clemson Experimental Forest, this section is very beginner friendly. The Twelve Mile River enters Lake Hartwell creating lake-like paddling conditions.

Access Details

Limited roadside parking is available downstream of the bridge, on river-left. The river bank is a short walk from the road. Do not consume fish caught in theTwelve Mile River and upper reaches of Lake Hartwell due to a PCB Advisory still in effect.

Access Details

A small parking area is available upstream river-right in addition to limited roadside parking downstream river-right of the Madden Bridge Road bridge. From the parking area, follow the trail parallel to the bridge for about 500 feet down to a small sandy beach.

Trip Details

Put in is located downstream of the Maw Bridge Road bridge, river left. Limited roadside parking is available.  The river bank is a short walk from the road. After putting in, the next road crossing is Madden Bridge Road. Take out is located upstream of the bridge, river right.  Do not consume fish caught in the Twelve Mile River or upper reaches of Lake Hartwell due to a PCB Advisory still in effect.
