What to Expect

This is a short trip on the Catawba to quickly and easily get away from town and out on the water. Stop along the way for a picnic on the rocky shoals in the middle of the river. 

Access
Put in:
Lake Wylie Dam Access Point
Access Details

Access on the north side of river, just downstream of the dam. 

Take out:
Riverwalk Rock Hill
Access Details

Near restaurants, paved hiking/biking path, and other amenities associated with the Rock Hill Outdoor center and the Riverwalk community. 

Trip Details

Even though you are near the city of Rock Hill, the Catawba River provides a quick escape. This trip starts just below the Lake Wylie dam on the north side of the river. You'll float past wooded banks and rocky shoals on your way down the wide open Catawba River. 

You will reach the take out after passing underneath Interstate 77 and US 21 bridges. Many amenities, including restaurants, hiking paths, and more are available at the take-out.
