What to Expect

A short trip with swift moving water and rural in nature. There are no bridges along this section and very long stretches of densely wooded forest.

Put in:
Lockhart Put In below Lockhart Dam #2
Access Details

This access is located east of Lockhart Power's Hydropower Plant and Dam. Paddlers should put in below the dam and avoid the dam and its facilities at all times. Parking and a fishing area are both provided.

Take out:
Broad River Landing River Access and Parking Area

A small parking area and boat ramp are located river-right.

Trip Details

Put in is along River Street in Lockhart, SC, very close to the Lockhart Dam #2. After putting in, there is a long stretch of shoals followed closely by an island that stretches 3,200 feet. Swift flatwater with occasional Class I ripples classify the main stretch of this section. The take out at Broad River Landing will be located river-right.
