Cape Romain, Santee Delta and Winyah Bay (Coastal)

This area provides incredible coastal wilderness paddling experiences. The majority of the coastal land in this area is protected by the Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge, Santee Coastal Reserve, Yawkey Wildlife Center, Caper's Island Heritage Preserve and the North Island-Winyah Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. Paddle with dolphins and birds to unspoiled islands, natural beaches, and acres-on-acres of pristine salt marsh. Slightly inland up the Santee, explore blackwater creek wilderness in Francis Marion National Forest.

Adjacent Waterways: upstream, Santee River, Pee Dee River, and Waccamaw River; south coastal, Charleston Area (Coastal); and north coastal, Murrells Inlet and Grand Strand (Coastal).
