What to Expect

This trip is a little longer and more rural than the upstream sections of the Catawba. Most of the banks are wooded. This section is mostly flat water, with a rocky shoals along the way.

Wooded trails, boardwalks, picnic area, and other amenities are available at this park along a beautiful stretch of Catawba River.

This access is a part of the Catawba Nation Greenway. It is located on Catawba Nation Reservation.

My wife and I did this section this past weekend and were amazed how remote it felt after passing by the River Park area (having started in the middle of the Riverwalk area). Bald eagles and a great mix of shallow and deeper river sections made for an enjoyable paddle!
