Lake Murray

Lake Murray is located near the center of South Carolina just west of Columbia in the lower Piedmont. This 48,000 acre reservoir was constructed in the late 1920’s to produce hydroelectric power and at its completion the lake’s 1.6 mile dam was the largest earthen dam in the world. The lake supplies the water for the 205 MW Saluda hydroelectric facility owned and operated by Dominion Energy South Carolina.

Visitors to Lake Murray can enjoy boating, swimming, fishing, and a variety of other outdoor recreational activities available to the public from many launch sites, parks, and wildlife management areas. Sources for more information: Dominion Energy Lake Murray and  Lake Murray Country.com.

Skip the booze cruise
A fun day on the water can quickly turn into trouble, if alcohol impairs decisions and reaction time. Stay safe and enjoy your drinks after your float.
