Trip Details

This is a rural paddle on a beautiful flat stretch of blackwater. This is a good stretch for a half-day paddle. The banks are covered with oak, bald cypress and water tupelo, among other trees. Halfway down this stretch, the river divides briefly in two directions around an island.

The river left channel around the island is completely blocked by a large down fallen tree. The river right channel is clear, but the current is relatively swift, the channel narrow, and requires maneuvering around trees. Be alert.

Just did a 2day trip from T Coke Weeks landing to Mars Old Field and had a great time. Current got a little strong at points and downed trees made for some tense moments so stay alert. Great paddle though and plenty of good spots to camp on the way.

Had a fantastic time on this leg of the trip. Water was still a little high from flooding, current was quick the the morning sunrise was great and relaxing, We came across two river otters. Great way to start the season.
